NCCR Hold Lecture on Interrelation between Family and Disabled
Targeting 38 families of the disabled, the National Center for Community Rehabilitation in Gaza held a lecture on the interrelation between the disabled and his/her family. The lecture was conducted in the framework of community awareness program which targets all segments of the society, expressly in the most marginalized and low-awareness areas. The lecture handled the definition of disability, the disabled person's capabilities, psychological status of the disabled, and recognition of disability by the disabled and his/her family. Dr. Mahmoud Syam , neurologist in Al-Sourani Hospital, shed the light on the scientific and practical fields that the disabled can make us of and work on in an effort to develop his/her skills and potency. Furthermore, Dr.Syam highlighted the role of families in orienting these capabilities optimally. After that, he touched the mechanisms of dealing with the disabled person, and the significance of social security for the disabled simplifying many cases who have overcome their disability to achieve theirs goals and aspirations. Faten Kalloub, nurse in Gaza home care program, tackled with bedsores and their symptoms and indications. Also, she mentioned classes and types of sores, referring to people and spots vulnerable to bedsores. Likewise, the nurse explained the mechanisms of sores prevention and dressings, pointing out that the sound nutrition and cleanliness play a significant role in bedsores treatment. Finalizing the lecture, the participants were invited to open discussion to raise their questions and inquiries. |
