establishment of the center, its objectives, its programs,
and the center's role in reaching the disabled people in the
marginalized areas in all Gaza governorates. Abu Rezq added
that the center's role is not limited to providing medical,
rehabilitative, social , educational , and psychological
services or presenting assistive devices to the physically
disabled and deaf people, but it works on raising the
levels of community awareness about reasons beyond
disability and its prevention. Moreover, the center spares
no effort to foster awareness about issues , rights, and
problems of the disabled people for the purpose of enabling
them to play an effective role in erecting a better
Palestinian society.
Dr. Sanaa Al-Khuzondar , Head of training
in Al-Quds Open University, extended highly gratefulness to
the NCCR for hosting the seminar, and highlighted the
center's noticeable endeavors under the auspices of the
status quo, represented in the severe siege and shortage in
fund resources. After that, Dr. Sanaa handled phases the
family goes through incase it has a disabled child, social
and economic burdens the family encounters, role of
socialists in such cases, and the role of rehabilitation
associations in serving the disabled people.
Miss. Sawsan Al-Khaleely , Coordinator of
vocational workshop at the center, shed the light on the
present status of the disabled in the Gaza strip. She
pointed out that the disabled people still suffer since
their law has not come true yet .Al-Khaleely inquired why a
big segment of the disabled is still marginalized despite
the increasing number of the disabled people in the
Palestinian society.
Delivering the students' speech, Rami
A'abed apologized for the absence of Dr. Zeyad Al-Jerjawy ,
President of Al-Quds Open University, referring to the
considerable role of Dr. Zeyad in supporting the students.
Then, A'abed extended great thanks for the center's
hospitality during the training. Importantly, he clarified
the magnitude of community rehabilitation, pointing out that
the rehabilitation is not an end but it is a means to help
the disabled to adapt with community . Moreover, Rami
mentioned the role of social worker in the society,
referring to a misunderstanding about his/her role that
results in reducing his/her authorities. The student finally

people in the Palestinian society.

the participants to throw their suggestions and questions .
