The delegation of
National Center for Community Rehabilitation, represented by
Mr. Khaled Abu Zaid, home care staff, and accompanied by
Mrs. Anja from the Dutch Organization of Kifaia and a Dutch
medical team, held a visit to Red Cross Association where
they met a foreign team who is charging the affairs of
developing the Artificial Limbs Center in Gaza.
The NCCR's
delegation delivered a speech on the essential activities
and programs at the center concerning home care program in
particular; which provides medical, psychological and
informative services, in addition to other assistive aids
for physical disabled people and their families at homes .
Those services are particularly provided to those of hard
cases such as paraplegia and quadriplegia undergoing
bedsores, spasm, and other health problems. The program
serves the disabled people of both genders and all ages.
Conducting home visits is the responsibility of dedicated
medical and psychological teams as this program offers its
diverse services to the disabled people in all Gaza
governorates.
At that time, Mrs.
Sara, a physiotherapist, explained other activities of the
program of artificial limbs development as the project works
on developing the Artificial Limbs Association, training the
center's employees and improving services, in addition to
organize, supervise and improve processes of amputation and
physio therapy at hospitals in Gaza Strip by summoning a
surgical team during next months. Mrs. Sara did also
clarify the basic purpose of such project which is the
disability of those who need artificial limbs to leave Gaza
Strip under the ongoing siege.
As a result, both
teams agreed to transmit the cases, who need artificial
limbs, to the Artificial Limbs Association; only they are
become rehabilitated by home care teams in the NCCR. As the
Artificial Limbs Association is going to send cases, of the
project, to be rehabilitated in the NCCR before they get the
artificial limb which they need. Moreover, it will be some
awareness of the artificial limb role through many
workshops.
