National
Center for Community Rehabilitation has held a meeting
targeting 70 physically disabled people and their families
in Khan Younis who have been receiving medical,
psycho-socio and rehabilitative home care services by the
medical teams of the center's Home Care Program.
The meeting,
which took place at the center's branch in Khan Younis,
discussed the most important issues and problems of disabled
people in this current situation. The meeting focused on the
needs of the newly-disabled people and difficulties that
they and their families encounter in the Southern
governorates.
NCCR welcomed
the audience and wished them a blessed Ramadan asserting
that the National Center works on their problems and issues
equally regardless of their political tendencies calling on
Palestinian factions to stop the factional fight that
results in more and more disabled people.
In their turn,
the disabled and their families expressed their problems and
needs and discussed the shortage in medical tools like
wheelchairs, crutches, … etc. Additionally, they called on
the NCCR to increase the number of home visits, and to
provide them with the necessary medical tools to make their
life easier.
Moreover, they
suggested that the NCCR increases the number of courses and
workshops on Home Care Principles, and requested that the
NCCR accepts a number of them as volunteers at the center's
branch in the city.
On the other
hand, the administration of the NCCR promised to continue
working on disabled issues and problems and to provide them
with all possible medical tools, and promised to organize
more workshops and training courses, and officially opened
the door for disabled people to volunteer at the center.
At the end of
the meeting, the audience suggested that the NCCR holds
monthly meetings to follow up their conditions.
