Gaza City

The Gaza Strip is suffering from extremely hard economic, and social conditions , significantly after many years of violence, ongoing siege and closure, and the destruction of the infrastructure, and the private economic projects. All such factors have caused 70% of the population to be under the poverty line. According to the field survey conducted by the NCCR in all the northern and the middle governorates in cooperation with M.P.D.L association, the results pointed out that .0.27% of the population are suffering from hearing disabilities.

It is noteworthy that unless those people are subject to intervention by providing them with hearing aids, they will suffer from isolation , especially those who still have hearing remains that they could get benefited from the hearing aids. In spite of the intervention by some organizations working on this regard, there is a noticeable rise in the deaf people for many reasons, particularly including the frequent middle ear otitis of the children , aged 3-6 years old, wherein the researches of  rapid hearing screening conducted by the NCCR for 4200 children during the last 5 years, it was pointed out that 1.6% of the children were suffering from various ear problems , that could lead  to hearing concerns in case of the absence of intervention.

Owing to the costly expense of the hearing aid to reach 390 $ that means its price is 50$ higher than the monthly income of any family, so few families could sustain hearing aids for their independents , specially children who are negatively affected unless they are provided by this aid for its magnitude for learning, and integration into the society .        

- Providing 150 deaf people with hearing aids;

- Reducing the economic burdens assigned on families after providing their sons with hearing aids;

-Empowering150 deaf people to integrate into the society after providing them with suitable hearing aids; and

- Enlightening 150 families of deaf people about protecting the haring aid.

The project is based on distributing 225 hearing aids in the Gaza and the northern governorates for 150 deaf people of large lacking-income families( above 5 individuals), at all ages of both genders , but the priority is given for schools children . thorough  eight weeks, based on the accurate definition of their needs by the hearing screenings. The project will be directed by a well-qualified team at the auditory clinic of the center, whereas work will be initialized by forming the following staff:( a project coordinator, am auditory technician,  a secretary, and an accountant ). Afterwards, hearing screenings will be conducted for the beneficiaries after checking them at the clinic to specify the suitable hearing aid for each one.
