.::Achievements in 2002::.

1. The NCCR launched a branch of the Home Care Program in the Middle governorate to provide medical, psychological, guiding and other home-care services to physically disabled people and their families. The branch includes a physiotherapy clinic followed up by a full medical team who take care of the physically disabled people at home, and train their families on the home care fundamentals. This branch provides medical services to 250  

2. The establishment of the Disabled Impotence Clinic at the center to help the disabled and needy people so as to complete the rehabilitation process.

3. The NCCR launched a Mobile Medical Unit through which the hearing examination equipments can be transferred, and a hearing technical team can make quick hearing check of kinder garden children at their kinder gardens in order to early detect any hearing problem. 4500 children have been checked. 11.6% of them have problems in the middle ear; therefore, they were transferred to specialized doctors. It's worthier mentioning that this unit provides its various services to the marginalized places in the remote border regions. This program was funded by the Dutch ……   in Netherlands.

4. The NCCR implemented a field survey project of disabled in the northern and the middle governorates for 357865 people. The project was carried out by a team ,comprising 50 of physicians, physiotherapists, and socialists , wherein they filled in applications about disabled people and their needs. The results referred to 5649 disabled while 7451 were in need to medical glasses. The project lasted for 4 months, and funded by the European Union, in cooperation with the Spanish organization, MPDL. 

5. The NCCR completed  the Home Care of Physically Disabled Project in Gaza and the North of the Gaza Strip funded by Tamkeen Project of $US 97200 during the period from August 20, 2001 to February 20, 2002. The project included the following activities:

  • Home care of 500 physically disabled people and especially children who have become disabled due to the Israeli violence in Palestine.

  • Organizing 12 workshops for 225 school teachers and supervisors.

  • Holding 12 increasing awareness meetings for the parents of the disabled people, who are registered in the project, about the fundamentals of home care of physically disabled people  

  • Holding two community meetings that involved decision makers of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs and around 300 disabled persons and their families who expressed their problems and needs in an open discussion.

6. The NCCR distributed many tools and equipments for disabled received by UAE follows:

  • 62 wheeled chairs

  •  15 hearing equipments

7. The NCCR received 75 hydraulic beds, medical materials, and medical beds from the European Academy in Germany, and they were distributed among disabled people while the rest were given to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

8. The NCCR received a number of nappies of different sizes from the Fine Company in the UAE, and distributed them among the disabled people.

9. The NCCR provided first aid materials to 75 ambulance stations and local and popular committees. 

10. The NCCR has held 10 first aid courses targeting 200 people at many community centers and local institutes.

11. Organizing four courses about home care of disabled to the medical teams who are involved in the Home Care Program by a professional Dutch medical team.

12. The NCCR has held a training course for two months on the Medical and Psychological Rehabilitation of Disabled. The course included theoretical lectures as well as field visits to children. 40 psychologists, doctors, and physiotherapists benefited from the course that was funded $US 18000 by the UNDP.  

13. Carrying out the Community Quality Project about the disabled and their problems. This project, funded by The High Commissioner for Human Rights Office, targeted 500 people from the local community distributed on 6 meetings.  

14. Doing 950 hearing checking and providing 120 hearing aids to people from the local community. 

15. Providing educational services and language/speech reformation sessions to around 200 children who suffer from different hearing and speech problems.
