1. The activities of the NCCR has continued in 1998 through the activities of the Children's Language and Pronunciation Reformation Program. The program has provided many educational services inside the center to 60 children who have problems with language and pronunciation, and to another 20 cases outside the center through the field program. 2. The establishment of a kinder garden for normal children that includes 30 normal children. 3. Carrying over working in the Deaf Rehabilitation Program through providing educational and rehabilitative programs for 13 deaf children. 4. Holding four courses in Methods of Discovering/Detecting Hearing Problems, and Sign Language. 74 kinder garden teachers and university graduates of both genders took parts in the courses. 5. Providing hearing/audio services (Examinations, fitting hearing aids, and audio rehabilitation) to 120 local community members. 6. Participating in several community meetings and seminars, as well as taking part in many festivals like the International day of disable. 7. 70 guardians of disabled people took parts in 14 meetings organized by the NCCR in order to keep in touch with them and to follow up needs and development of their disabled children. 8. The NCCR held 7 awareness lectures at Women Centers and kinder gardens targeting the mothers to train them about the importance of the early detection of hearing, pronunciation, and language problems of their children. 9. The NCCR held a summer camp that targeted both normal and disabled children. 10. The NCCR has held 12 birthday parties for the disabled children, all who were born during the same month, celebrated their birthday in a special party with their families. 11. The NCCR participated in a workshop held in Italy for two weeks about the cerebral hearing examinations. 12. Signing an agreement with the Ministry of Health, MOH, and the International Relief Agency to buy the medical services provided by the NCCR. |
